When Inspections Are Required
Under the Work at Height Regulations 2005, scaffolding must be inspected:
- Before it is used for the first time
- After any event that could affect stability (strong winds, heavy rain, impact damage)
- At intervals not exceeding 7 days
Failing to carry out inspections can result in enforcement action from the HSE and, more importantly, puts workers at risk.
What We Check
Our inspections cover the full scaffold structure including standards, ledgers, transoms, bracing, base plates, sole boards, ties, boards, toe boards, handrails, access points, loading bays and any adaptations. We check for damage, movement, missing components and any changes that have been made since the last inspection.
After each inspection, we provide a written report confirming the scaffold is safe to use or detailing any remedial work required.
